Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

what’s the point of a tail walker if they’re not going to stop and help people?

Surely, it's the responsibility of the tail to stay behind the last runners, rather than the runners' responsibility to stay ahead of the tail? More so if someone is ill!

That's very disappointing, and totally not what tail walking is about. I'm sure most tail walkers would stop and check on someone who was obviously not well even if that person wasn't part of the event.

That is shocking - surely even human decent would result in stopping to ask someone if they were OK. Even at our parkrun which has a time restriction on our usage licence we would always ensure tailwalker was behind the last person and stop and help or radio for assistance for additional help if someone was ill.

That is shocking way for a tail walker to behave. Hope your wife is okay and will return to parkrun again

Thanks all, mrs o is taking this much better than me. It wouldn't boil my p*ss quite so much if the tail walking couple didn't have nearly 200 runs a piece at the event, and she could see them when they finished 200 yards ahead of her and another runner who had stopped to check she was OK, at which point the timers were stopped.
Her c25k group are off to a different parkrun next weekend, so hopefully a better outcome

That sounds awful. Our tail walkers are briefed to stay with (or at an appropriate distance behind) the last person. So if they pause / have a breather then the tail walkers do too. Also, we usually have at least two tail walkers (as per parkrun guidance) so at least if something does happen, one can assist the injured or unwell person whilst the other(s) can get more help or stay with the next last runner.

I agree, it's also about just being a kind human being and checking if someone is ok, parkrun or not!
