Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

ER - posted on the parkrun UK Blogs - blog.parkrun.com

£33 to include international postage (despite them not being available outside the UK). Even if they are only half as horrible as the previous incarnation, I'm still not tempted.

Still waiting for my three boys 50 t-shirts to arrive - apparently there was a delay / back order needed, so fingers cross for end of April / early May delivery. But the pro-direct website has been "upgraded" so I can't see my placed orders any more :-(

No plans for me to buy an orange one. Though they do seem peculiarly popular.

Ran my 400th a few weeks ago, tore a hamstring just to make it memorable (not). So spending time volunteering while OH runs. Don’t really feel too inspired to parkrun again ( but likely to out of habit and because OH would still want to go ). I appreciate that many love the concept and challenge/badge chasing which seems to become prevalent over the past year but they don’t hold any particular fascination for me. Maybe I have become tired and jaded, I love the community spirit of smaller events ( where everyone know your name as it were ) and through my rose tinted glasses, I look back in time too much. Our regular Sunday morning gathering at a local cyclopark have replaced a lot of what I used to enjoy at parkrun. Still, will be dragging my bad leg along on Saturday to support everyone. Maybe the rest will do me some good? Hope you all have a great Saturday whatever you may be doing 👍

Kev - well done on 400. I started at parkrun number 69 and am still short of 400 :-)

@Dvorak - "Really, Dowse? The last four GRLs in Glasgow (average 27 runners) have had a median finish time of around 25 minutes. Rather faster than any local parkrun. There is also a 2K - average attendance last four weeks of 4."

You probably right regarding average pace actually, slowest 5k was 40 minutes last week and fastest was just over 20 minutes, but lots around mid 20s. What I meant was that it doesn't tend to attract club runners like Cannon Hill does. Under 20 will probably get you 1st place in GRL, whereas it won't get you into the top 50 at Cannon Hill.

They had 31 5km runners and 30 2.5km runners last week. The shorter distance is rather popular.

Should point out that the snacks and drinks are all donated and not paid for by the council.

Also, linked to previous volunteer chat, they manage this event with zero marshals around the course. They've got 2 or 3 people at the start/finish (also half way point in 5k) to do timing and provide first aid if required. It's just simple. It's not perfect, but I've got a lot of time for GRL.

Dowse- sounds like parkrun 12 years ago. We ran Basingstoke and Eastleigh with 2 people.
