The chance of an ankle of knee tweek seems too high. Horses are in stables now too. We will be under the glacier until Wednesday night at least.

But perhaps hoof boots could be adapted for winter turnout. And there's those spike thingies that can be put over running shoes? Yaxtrax? I've never seen anything like the ice we get here. It's like it freezes from the ground up and temperatures slightly above freezing are worse than in the minuses because they the top thaws out.

Last time I needed some I had hits also for cars and horsey products. The ones for running are items 3000B for forefoot and 3000A for heels, 8 and 4 ea. on each foot (human). There is a little adapter for screwing them in. They last longer than your shoes, even if you run on icy granite.
