Thanks for your feedback on the proposed Hanworth Park / Hounslow Heath parkrun. I appreciate everyone's views & I think we have exhausted that topic now. Turning to the issue about driving to parkrun events. parkrun does encourage people to travel to parkruns without driving but if you wanted to give people a gentle push about this issue you could (a) allow people to log any parkruns they haven't driven to, (b) put an environmentally friendly logo next to their results when they haven't used cars to get to 50 events & (c) possibly add it as another running challenge on the google chrome extension. Coincidentally travelling to Victoria Dock parkrun by Cable Car from from North Greenwich has proved popular. In my own case I have probably walked or used public transport to get to 35-40 percent of the parkrun events that I have been to but there are a few parkruns I have driven to when I perhaps should have gone by train instead.

And how exactly would that information be collated? Ask everyone if they drove or not? Also, I'm not sure how I would be counted. I drive to within about a mile of a parkrun, then run the last mile. So anyone seeing me arrive would assume that I didn't drive there.

Westmoors that would be counted as a car journey. I'm sure plenty of people do similar to what you do.

If I had to rely on public transport to get to my home one, I'd need to set out the afternoon before and camp out ![]() |

Can we please forget the carbon footprint, driving and logging how we got to parkrun conversation please... I am sure we all do what we can I won't bore you with the details as the topic is boring me, but I have 4 x methods of getting to parkrun and shock horror driving is one of them BUT I only go solo if none of my running buddies can make it to car share... Looking forward to getting back to discussing inaugural parkruns ![]() |

I agree Kev, the carbon footprint issue is really for a parkrun debate site. Back to the new parkruns. I went to check out the Dartford Heath site yesterday. It is a beautiful location. I even saw 5 rabbits running round. It will need good signage though as I found it very hard to work out where parts of the parkrun course went. |

Dartford Heath has signs and marshals on parkrunday. They also have rabbit holes.

Good to hear it Kev. I shall try not to disappear down any rabbit holes when I run at Dartford Heath !

Lochore Meadows do not appear to be going for a quiet launch thecourier.co.uk More than 400 runners expected, according to the piece; which would make it a Scottish inaugural record by over 100. That's a stall being firmly set out. (Mind you, the article also states that "Hundreds of thousands of people now join in with their local Parkrun after the free running event began in Teddington in 2014.") |
