Does seem funny that a town with some of the best sports facilities in the country doesn't have anywhere suitable for parkrun. I suppose Bradgate park is too far away. Used to love running up to Beacon hill from Loughborough.

Beacon Hill lights up (excuse the pun) on strava Hotspot as a running venue and looks cracking potential. I presume there are infrastructure issues that rule it out from parkrun.

Bradgate Park would maybe be the better option if moving that far from the town centre?

I think we all know that identifying a suitable course is only one matter and a lot needs to happen after that. There can be issues with individual, councils and paperwork that hold things up.

Did someone mention Loughborough? Loughborogh parkrun is a game featured on the parkrun show ( sadly missed ) and frequently appears on various parkrun Facebook groups. The game consists of each parkrunner in turn announcing a landmark, or street, most often a park in the vicinity of Loughborough. The aim is to be the first to announce "Loughborough parkrun", a ficticious location for a weekly 5k run. Interspersed with the turns is humorous discussion amongst the protagonists regarding the rules and legality of each move, as well as the hypothesis those claiming a successful resolution are using.
Despite appearances, however, there are no rules to the game, and both the naming of parks and the specification of "rules" are based on stream-of-consciousness association and improvisation. Thus the game is intentionally incomprehensible.
A good parkrun weekend to all.

If anyone is in Bradgate park over the next four weeks Middle Boy is helping again with the annual dig at Lady Jane Grey's house. They have an information tent set up and there will be an open day on July 1st. I'll stop thread jacking now
