Happy G, I bumped into Angus from Harmeny AC @ Vienna Marathon on Sunday. Who know him. I asked if he knew you.

New on the Accepting Registrations list - Clitheroe Castle - Given that the existing junior parkrun is 3 laps it will be interesting to see the course for this one. A bit more here: ribblevalley.gov.uk

Urgh, I predict problems: "3 laps of 2 connected fields, with narrow gateway leading from field 1 to field 2. All off road, grass. Unfortunately dogs not allowed at this event due to the school field." A narrow gateway isn't good at the best of times, but on a three lapper where faster runners will be lapping people and you'll also have people going in both directions and lapping people in both directions at the same time?!?! |

it depends on how narrow the gate is. Hopefully they did a test event with a large number of people and it worked o.k.

I've been to plenty of parkruns with narrow gates BUT they've all been unidirectional. I also have my concerns.

Here is a Google 3D rendering of the gap in question. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Street/@51.1286383,-2.7283023,32a,35y,119.2h,69.31t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x487210b31d90386d:0x48e075dd76523c34!8m2!3d51.124679!4d-2.742919 Looks like it could be wide enough for a two way pass to go on, but if you have someone being lapped in both directions at the same time I predict problems. |

Being at the Strode College Sports Centre, ideal for a t-shirt reading "I Strode at Street". Perhaps the course will turn into a mud-plugger like Millom, which would do wonders for keeping gate congestion manageable. Actually, the gate doesn't look that narrow, as long as those odd bits of fence-thing aren't in the way. goo.gl |

It looks wide enough the get the lawnmower through to the other field.

I expect that the good people of Street will resolve any problems they encounter. Mud and a gate sounds like a good old traditional cross country run, parkrun moving over to the darkside? Probably not as bad as an event that put their route through an established dog - off lead enclosure. |
