Given that she planned for a 11.5 day schedule, and the record is 12.5 days then temptation must be there if things are tough to let things slip an hour here, and an hour there.......
Depends if she just wants to beat the record, or smash it.
Who knows what mental and physical state she is in, and what sort of team she has around her.

Agreed. I was wondering whether with that cushion they might start to cut the days short of the targetted end points to enable her to stick to her recovery schedule. With this being the 7th day she now has quite a lot of slack to play with if she just wants to break the record and not break herself too badly (I think some breakage is inevitable!). With ref to her team it's huge! Take a look at her website. There are two motorhomes for a start, it's a full military operation!

I think she's still a mile short now Gus? The border is the River Sark just before the Gretna Outlet place I think. But you're right that should provide a lift. I reckon 51 miles of Day 7 done, so perhaps another 5 hours if she goes all the way to the original end of today. It will be interesting to see if she stops early rather than pushing on and reducing her recovery.

Ahh apologies, knew it was a river and thought it was the Esk.
I'd be surprised if she didn't stop short of the planned end of day 7 point. Whether it's 4 miles again ( ie still done her 70 miles today ) or even earlier will be interesting

Given the sudden jump in her position I think she has called it a day for Day 7. I reckon she's about 12 miles short of the orignally planned end point for today, which means around 65 miles for the day (including yesterday's missing bit). She seems to have slowed quite a lot in the last few hours. The last 10 miles have taken 3 hours.

Yep, her plan now seems to be to stop at 10pm in order to get her 7 hours rest

If she sticks to that and keeps slowing just a little (i.e. the deficit gets bigger everyday) then I think she will be looking at starting Day 12 with at least 70-80 miles to do. Will she then push all the way to the finish in one go or do a 13th day and just make sure she's finished ahead of the record?

Looks like first dot was at 5:07am this morning, so keeping to same start time. Just reached her end of Day 7 point now after about 2h40m

Looks like a pretty strict plan of running hours and stop at 10pm no matter where she is.
