Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I see 7-day RHR on the garmin web interface Health Stats , Heart Rate as the large number to the top left. As a datapoint, I was ill first on 20th Aug. My RHR is still about 2-3 beats high and I get low warnings for HRV but I have been improving my season times for all distances (except for 1 mile) recently and can sustain threshold effort for what I would expect. (I did a full block of 10 km training before 20th Aug.)

I caught Covid 5 or 6 weeks before last year's London marathon. The couple of runs before I (knew I) had it were terrible as was the first week or so after I got through the 10 day isolation period. Then HR slowly returned nearer to pre-Covid levels for me

I managed to get a confidence boosting run in the build up to London and got through the marathon in a decent time (possibly 5-10 mins slower than I'd hoped to before catching it).

Yes, I can see 7 day rolling by clicking through each day. But the app has the ability to select 7 day periods or 4 week periods and makes scrolling through for a simple history much easier.

I don't think I've ever seen the ability to group periods like that on the website - though their "dashboard" style setup implies that that's the sort of thing you could do.

Thanks StuH, that's what I was missing - I was using the "dashboard" stuff rather than "reports". Still not quite as usable as on the app but not bad.

According to my Garmin, my ahr for the last 200m of parkrun today was 188 BPM, with a peak of 195.

As I had revised my max hr down to 192, that's, um ... interesting.

It looks like it spikes then comes down - I wonder if it’s just bad data.

Just catching up.

J2R - i use accurate rhr and max and calculate using Karvonnen. However , they are then mildly tweaked after performance testing.

I do a lot of z1 and z2

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
