Cheers both, yes very happy with how those comparisons came out, and even allowing for possible different conditions and even how I felt I still think there's progress.
Daz, the Parkrun last week definitely wasn't flat out. I felt tired from the additional miles this training has brought, and running a hilly 4 miles or so there also definitely meant I held back a bit (despite running at a higher HR than quicker runs in the past).
I really look forward to the day I can set out hard at a 5k and then hold 90-95% MHR for the distance. I've tried going out hard in the past on lower mileage (not really trained) and just died on my arse around the 3-4K mark. This was what attracted me to this training as hopefully (in time) I can build up the HR I can maintain and maybe kick out some improved times?

Huntsman, I'd not be a I'd to run 84% MHR for 5 miles I don't think. Stick at it and keep an eye on your watch/phone for the HR. Dos it d alerts based on HR?

Hi brunski Interesting trend with your pace increasing whilst your heart rate falls. has that trend continued? Been considering running much ofmy weekly mileage at 70 % WHR for a while to see i it improved my aerobic cpcity.

Hi bakedbeano, it's too early to tell for me really. I'm in my 3rd week of upping the mileage in this manner, but was training for a marathon on October 9th so got in reasonable shape for that. I had a foot injury just after and then decided to give my own version of Hadd a try...
Since getting my hrm I've been keeping a log of runs at below 140bpm after reading a Mark Allen (triathlete) piece, and that became my easy pace for commuting but I was mixing that up with intervals and hill work, etc. This time I'm going to try (as much as I can) to stick to the HR bands as prescribed in the article linked at the side ->
So far so good, but very early days. Managing to get up to 60 mile weeks with much of that at low heart rate through trying to run an hour a day...it's certainly not hurting. I have a 10k 2 weeks in Sunday, where I'll 'give it some' as need to improve on my 39:10 PB.

Loads to catch up on here and not really been on to keep up. I've been seeing almost constant improvement which is unusual, and I'm way ahead of where I expected to be just now.
Logged 86 miles last week. This week sub LT came in at 6:57/mile for 81.7% yesterday (Baz - to answer a question from a few pages back, I've had these down to 6:10/mile previously but never converted that to MP). Then today knocked out a 75% 15 miler and it came in at 7:29/mile. Just going to keep on and hope the improvements continue. Won't be too annoyed when the platuea arrives.
Congrats on a sneaky sub 3 Westley

The links over there are worth reading HOD ----------->
Sub LT's are 10 milers twice a week ideally.
