Err...it's a thread called Garmin 305 tips. Nobody promised a chorus of naked dancing girls.

BCRB, please get out of our thread, now. You're social-climbing, 205-owning type are not welcome here.

Vicksta, I've bookmarked it but I have not downloaded it yet. I thought I would work with the delivered Trainging Center software first, to get to know the limitations. Looks like I've found one already.
Dayyn, can you explain how you configured the autopause button? Me and my bladder would greatly appreciate it.

SF, you can configure Sporttracks to remove stopped time from calculations automatically, as well as tell yo uhow long you were stopped for. Also if you go onto the pace analysis screen it will show you how much time/distance you spent stopped, walking, jogging, running, etc, and these bands and there pace boundaries are configurable.
I'd be cautious using the auto-pause. many people have found it can cause problems with maintaining satellite reception in low-signal areas. Personally I'd also rather have all the data, and filter out bits later depending how I'm analysing the run. That is partly cos on ultras there is always valid paused/walking time ... but mainly cos I'm anal like that

sf I have decided not to use the auto pause because when you race the time you get includes any pauses!!

Hmmm...sounds like auto-pause has risks. I think I'll install SportsTracks and give it a try.

I don't use the autopause button, i generally press the start/stop button when if it looks like I am going to take a while to cross road/get attacked by dog/have to go to loo I prefer to have the control that way, important to remember to press it again though.

I used to use autopause. The I ran the GNR. I was on the left from the start therefore ran underneath the junction. Autopause couldn't pick up the satellites, so assumed I'd gone indoors and stopped. Autopause therefore came on. I lost two minutes from my time because of that, thought I was comfortably on for sub 2:10 and ended up coming in in 2:11:57.
It has also stopped on me when running off-road through trees. If it can't see the satellites, it assumes you've stopped.
The Start/Stop button is big enough anyway
