Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Deal. Swap you for my food - I've put on enough weight during the last few months of inactivity already!

Well, I have to say that was an unfortunate post. I immediately messaged a few people and managed to create a bit of a stir before it was all straightened out!

Any thoughts on Kahtoola microspikes vs exospikes? I probably would like both, but that would be 2 sets (me and mrs) x 2 models = £200+ for something that might only get used a couple of times a year.

Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr)
I have both jacdaw - Micro Spikes and Nano Spikes. Love them both. Micros are huge! Like crampons, almost. Need 2 or 3 cm snow or ice. Not good with exposed tarmac or rocks. Nanos are more forgiving - more like traditional studs or very small spikes in a shoe, but obviously they go over your normal shoe.

While expensive, I've had the Micros for over 10 years and still going strong, so good value in that sense. :-) G

And I demoed running up a 1 in 3 sheet ice path in our local hills, with alacrity! :-) G

Had micros for a while and while only used occasionally they have done the job when needed. If it's for in the hills I'd say they are the better option. I do find they tend to ball up with snow and need kicking clean quite often.

If it's just for icy pavements I'd go with one of the smaller options.

OK, we will get some micros, then hope for a bit of snow and ice. Accidentally bought a new rucksack at the same time.

Has anyone got any experience of the X-Talon Ultra v2 and if they are a significant improvement on the original X-Claw/X-Talon Ultra. As has been said here before, I found the XTU to be a very unstable shoe, but that could have been my fault in using unsuitable inserts.
