Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

That's interesting Steve. I have a fascination with the Forest of Knaresborough, I may have to consult you for advice at some point!

By all means, Martyn. Most of the archives of the Yorkshire Archaeological & Historical Society

yas.org.uk

have been relocated to the Special Collections section of the Brotherton Library, Univ. of Leeds.

Here's a 1629 map of Knaresborough, part of the papers of the Slingsby family of Scriven:

The image here isn't too clear but it's better on the YAS website.

Excellent, thank you. In the first instance my ambition is to visit all the remaining boundary stones, the next is to plot where the missing ones should have been.

Is this what people do when finding all the trig-related artefacts gets too easy? ;-)

Auld Lang Syne was fun. I hope Fozzy will confirm that elbows were not deployed 🙂

I think you might be wise NE to keep that last bit permanently in your clipboard for a while 😀 and I always thought the use of elbows was obligatory in short fell races 😉
