Standard FRA kit is full body cover (jacket with hood), all taped seams. Map/compass, whistle, gloves and hat (buff usually does it). They almost certainly won't enforce full kit, it's one of those situations where you turn up "equipped for but not expecting to use" situations. |

I wasn't fit enough (read: not well enough) for Three Shires or Langdale this year although I had entries for both. I've done a couple of shorter races lately and am wondering if I dare do the Tour of Pendle on Saturday? I know it will probably put me in a basket, but I'm seriously considering it.

Is emergency food not a requirement, or is that a SHR thing?

Full Tour? Been under the weather / ill / unfit? Missed a couple of outings which would be useful training / markers for it? Not into S&M (well, no more than the average fellrunner)? Have a day in the Lakes or Dales steady away mate ![]() |

iirc there are two 'levels' of kit zp. Longer / tougher events stipulate emergency food. If I was taking waterproofs, hat, map (especially) I'd instinctively take a Mars Bar or similar anyway I think, whether in an event or not

Emergency food is not on the FRA essential kit list. I've been training right enough, as well as my arthritis will let me. I suppose I'm just a bit worried, the Full Tour is a proper bastard, I've done it often enough to know. |

No? fellrunner.org.uk Bottom of page 3 says it is, or is there a separate list? |

I stand corrected.

It's not the most inspirational route, but it is a proper fell-running challenge and takes some balls to finish it in a reasonable time. For what it's worth, I like Pendle - there aren't many places outside the Lake District where you can get that much climb done in an afternoon's training. I've even ran the full tour route in the dark (and pissing rain) when I was training for the TDS, it takes on a whole new perspective.
