We got a bittern full frontal strut today! As seen by flanker, kinky, c-cat and myself we spent a long time reed watching and spotted several phantom bitterns before it actually appeared good strut across the water channel before it disappeared into the reeds on the other side.
All the wigeon had gone though few gadwall and tufties, great created grebe, shovellers, three oystercatchers, cormorants, little grebe, lapwing... Lots of gulls.
Two reed bunting were flirting around the feeders too, GSW and lots of lovely finch, nuthatch etc.

There's been a collared dove and wood pigeon tea party going on in my back garden. The dunnocks have been dodging between them and the robin occasionally dive bombs a dunnock.

Massive flock of fieldfare down the Roman Road this afternoon I put them up from a large tree in the hedgerow, but instead of disappearing off into the fields, they kept pace with me as I walked, swirling over, across and around me as they moved from tree to tree, chattering away the whole time. I followed them (or they followed me, it felt like I was part of the flock!) for at least half a mile or more. I've never had such a good close up view of a large flock before, and it was really sunny so the light was great for viewing too I don't suppose they'll be around for too many more weeks...
Great view of green woodpecker in the sunshine, doing a typical woodpecker pose on a series of telegraph poles ahead of me, and grey partridge too.

I saw fieldfares when out walking a neighbour's dog on Sunday. Got close to those too.

The Canada Goose population at Tocil Pools appears to have been joined by some Greylags. Six spotted yesterday, down to just two today. Usual gang of tufted ducks, mallards, coots, moorhens, etc. to brighten up my lunchtime wanderings
