Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'll be saving each lap as a distinct entry - I think Gromit suggested (apologies if it was somebody else!) she'd be pausing her watch between laps and logging the whole thing as one.

I don't think it actually matters ;)

That's ok then. I'll save each one (my strava followers will think I've gone mad :-) ) and that'll remind me to check in- I hope!!

T’was me Andy 👍 I’m keeping it on the quiet after my covid laps ended with a hospital visit … if I uploaded a run to the orange site every hour folk would soon cotton on, I’ll defo be hitting save at the end of each lap, hit the button on the spread sheet on here then when I’ve finished save one hopefully longer run 💪

I'm undecided on taking part, but if I do I think I'd use Ultra setting on my Garmin and hit lap button at the end of each lap to record rests.

I think I'll be uploading every lap individually, as a way of promoting Fetch on the orange site.
I don't have many stalkers on there, but any extra eyeballs count.

Hopefully, I will have time between laps to write something against the early FLaps - I may even prepare something in advance that I can cut-and-paste. By the time the later ones go up, anyone seeing them should have the idea.

[But the check-in functionality means either approach should work.]

I've reset the checkins table, and *hopefully* added some code that will cut you off if you've taken too long to check in.

Feel free to test it:

Gromit wrote:As far as I know it isn’t an event that’s ever been aimed as a “pair” the challenge is to do a lap every hour as an individual otherwise you’d be able to get an hours kip inbetween Laps ?

Gotcha. I'll remove myself from the event listing. Good luck all, have fun 😊

Checked in - will try again just after one to make sure it doesn't let me :)

Another thought - at one point yesterday, I checked in claiming a 5k at about ten past the hour. Clearly, had I STARTED within the hour that would have been a world record by some margin (beyond unlikely) indicating either that I'd actually started in the previous hour or was mis-recording my distance. Are we bothered about folk starting 'early' (I'm guessing probably not) or do we need some error traps built into the process (I'm wondering about either an 'Are you sure?' box on submission or a 'Flagging this entry because it looks a bit off' option on the tracker)?

Or do I need to get off the overthinking bus and go do something more useful?

I'm not sure you need to drop out @saintjason
Personally, I have no intention of "winning" the thing, I'm just taking part for kicks. So if you want to alternate with a buddy, you may not be able to check-in, but there's no reason that you can't participate in your own way (and join in here?) is there?

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
I thought it'd be good to have a thread for discussing F'Laps 2025 (Date 5th July 2025). Follow this thread if interested.

The Rules
1) You must run or walk your chosen distance (a choice of 4.167 miles, 5k, 2 miles or 1 mile) within each hour e.g. 9-9.59am, 10-10.59am, 11-11.59am.
2) Each participant must visit Fetch and hit the "Completed it mate!" link before the hour ends: fetcheveryone.com/flaps-checkin.php
3) If you're finding it too much, you can drop down to a shorter distance, or tap out.
4) The winner is the last person standing in each distance category.
5) You can participate on your own, or get together with other Fetchies.
