Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

BiL may have had discussions, but of course he wont speak to us so we have no idea.

Apparently the consultant may be phoning this afternoon and the GP defo is. Also they didnt even know until Mrs Axe told them this morning that as recently as 2 weeks ago she was at home with 4 daily care visits.

Hope it worked Dave.

BiL's involvement isn't at all helpful in this Baz. I hope the phone calls made things clearer.

What a mess, Baz. I’m so sorry.

Would MIL understand if it was explained to her? I’m all for informed consent, but my OH wouldn’t understand information such as this on more than a very superficial level and would become confused and distressed (as no doubt it would take quite a few attempts these days and he still wouldn’t really get it). I just worry that it would be traumatic for your MIL if “too much” information was given, but I understand a person’s right to be informed/consulted and everyone is individual when it comes to dementia and age.

He is in a care home now but I’ve had to basically lie to OH on more than one occasion recently as an act of kindness.

I hope you get further answers soon.

Tough one still Baz.
Hope you feel the benefit Dave.

50 years of clutter/stuff have now been disposed of and we are done.

Tomorrow is a tidy of the front garden and Friday lock the door for the last time. We are knackered.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
