Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Question for this thread.

When ascending Kirk Fell from Black Sail Pass and you get to the two gullies. Should you choose the one directly ahead, or choose the one on the left.

I chose the one of the left and found it a bloody nightmare. In places the erosion is bad I think it might give way. I got to the top but the other way must be better?

FR the best gully to use is Red Gully which is the next one to the east of the one that is shown as having a public footpath down it on the OS map, that one is lethal! So coming from below you do want the one on the left. It is very obvious from the colour of the rocks if you've got the correct one.

Thanks FF. By the colour of the ground underfoot I must have chosen the 'easy' one. As it was definitely red. I'm just a pussy and not fell hardened. I thought it was testing.

My route, and the orange line is where I think the other gully was...
