It's loose scree all the way up fozzy but relatively good at the moment. It varies dependent on how much new rock fall there has been recently. There is no real scramble but it is a 4 limbs climb all the way up. It seemed yesterday like recently the mountain had been focussing all the new rock fall into the West Wall traverse exit (which isn't visible). That was like trying to climb the down escalator whilst not dislodging lumps of it onto the guys behind. It wasn't another attempt DT, just 3 or 4 runners doing a loop from Seathwaite looking at bits of the BG route. The photo was spotted on one of their |

I was with MH last week and he relayed to me a conversation that he’d had with John. It seems that JK actually sees the cycling bit as an opportunity to recover! He thinks he’s at an advantage over Mike’s approach as the use of a van between the rounds meant that he didn’t have enough recovery time. I’m not much of a cyclist so I find it hard to fathom but I suppose if you can move quickly enough with your HR well down in the aerobic zone then perhaps there’s something in it?! Anyway, it’s going to be another great tracking opportunity! |

You might move some lactate around and freshen up your legs (although I doubt it) but it must add to the ‘workload’ surely

I have this feeling that JK's body is able to tolerate far more "work" than most of us, and maybe the effort of cycling a few hundred miles is like us nipping out for an easy recovery shuffle. (no, I'm not convinced either ![]() |

All will be revealed this time (assuming he doesn’t nod off while peddling, err, again)

It's more that where as most of us are using human bodies that sit in relatively close to the centre of the distribution of human capabilities people like JK sit way out at the extremities of human capability. And the fact that JK is an extremely bright analytical guy has enabled him to gain a great understanding of how to deploy the freak capabilities he has to great effect plus he has the ability to dream and unsatiable drive to seek to make those dreams reality.
