Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Some flexibility in your plans is so valuable. Weather forecasts are generally reliable now and today’s weather was predicted days ago

Tim Laney is in the photo from Mark McDermott's 24 hour record that is in the current edition of the Fellrunner. I've been racing against Tim for at least 35 years. I think he is a little older than I am, so I suspect that it will be a fast JNLC at 60 attempt.

DT completely concur. I was surprised given the forecast brevity of today's heat that Galen didn't wait 24 hours for a better weather window. MWIS has the temperature at 900m at 10 deg v 16 deg today and generally pretty good for running. I've never been involved in a fast attempt where there wasn't a concerted plan to get the best weather in a span of a few days by being flexible.

My memory’s going but didn’t NE put his successful BG attempt back 24 hrs?

Talking of delaying a bgr due to warm weather......
Back in 2018 when Kilian did his round, that was supposed to be Rob Jebb going for a fast one that day ( he'd already done his 14:30, so must have thought he could beat that ) but Rob thought it was too warm, and luckily for Kilian he was able to make use of lots of the support that Rob had arranged.
I've always wondered why Rob didn't rearrange for a week or so later as he must have been in good shape. Did he then get injured, or was he only interested in the fastest round and Kilian had put it out of reach, or just life and other plans/races got in the way. Anyone know ?

I suspect you’ve answered your own question. If you’ve run 14-30 you’re only going again for one reason
