We did it relatively recently as part of a circuit around Gowbarrow etc and found a much nicer way off, but as flanker says I expect someone who knew a way round all that stuff must have lead her off the fell. Great Mell is straightforward, doesn't have the same problem.

It's the way it works. The attitude was summed up when Jasmin paced Es Tressider on the last leg of his record breaking Ramsay last year when he broke her record by 81 seconds (she had in turn been paced during her record round by Jon Ashcroft whose record she took).
