If you join one, it means the person who is in charge of the group can contact you all in bulk. I use them sometimes to communicate stuff to various people; and if someone is organising a get-together, it can be a way for them to keep an eye on numbers etc. But most stuff happens via watched threads on the forum. Groups have been round for *ages* but never really been improved on the basic functionality.

Quote Pin Big_G Morning everyone, I (re)created my account here a few days before the ~~strava~~ announcement, mainly because I have started to training to HR and wanted the "Beats per Mile" stat that ~~strava~~ doesn't show. For me, I never used the ~~strava~~ segment stuff so that's not an issue for me, although the layout of Training Log was a nice to have. But I doubt I'll be paying as I have my own spreadsheet which tracks various stuff anyway. Anyway, I'm a regular poster over on the Shades Marathon training thread on Runner's World, and will hopefully pop in over here too
