Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I think everyone here sees that no one way is for everyone Mic

Lets face it no one way is for one person, training should evolve as the athlete evolves

NAIL + HEAD = Mic. The DESIRE for a PB is driving me will at the moment. Regardless of which session or method i use, it was that that took me out the door last night at 10pm to run 13 x 400m HARD. And whilst I (mumbles) use a HRM, to have an idea of how "hard" a hard session was, the main thing driving it was "fast running will help me run fast", plus once your out you might as well make the session count.

Incidentally, HR was 85% avge. of each 400m rep which was a complete bonus as it takes a while for HR to rise and 400m doesn't give it long time.

Loving this thread as it is the first time i have specifically trained for a shorter race with a PB in mind as opposed to just running more to get up to marathon distance.

I think we all agree that base building is essential.

I'm definitely learning that the training must evolve as the person evolves. Everyone is different and i think this is why it is so difficult to help people because different stuff works for different people. However I also believe that a mixture of the basics works, it's just up to the trainer to find that optimum blend to suit the individual.

I foresee a pitchred battle between the minions of Mic and Gobi, with each dark overlord urging their proteges to fight to the death in the centre of Crystal palace track.

If not at least an episode of Gladiators!
