I quite like knowing how many miles I have done and where I have been. I have however stopped looking at my pace on my runs, going by feel. Like today i was nipping on, didn't feel like it and I hadn't intended to go so fast.
Plenty time to reach the target

I feel more human today the cold has gone from my head although I still have a sore throat. However I do feel chesty and phlegmy now. I did do a VERY slow 4 miles this morning which was yesterday's recovery run. I will be very wary of doing too much too soon though.

My PB's (historical) in races for all distances were all done without wearing a stopwatch of any kind and all done by "feel". I can vividly recall doing 37 mins for 10K, 63 mins for 10 miles and 1.21 for a halfM and how it felt. (horrible!) Stopwatches weren't widely used in those olden days and as for pace on training runs they were all done a bit too fast I think--I would look at the clock in the house before I left and then belt back to try and beat a time! In the day nearly everyone ran faster training runs anyway and then Arthur Lydiard's ideas came up.... Not meaning to be rude Fenland but was it worth doing a very slow four miler when you are still below par? The body needs rest after a lurgy!

Maybe Steve but after Saturday I felt 'great'. Well, I felt able to run anyway and I only did 4 miles so as not to be too stupid, and I did them really very slow.
You race times are really good and waaaay better than my times but you did say those were in the olden days and I'm (nearly) old now.
I try not to compare my times against others just my own previous race times, although there are one or two Fetchies I've met around at races who are about my age that I do keep an eye on their times.

Those pb's are VERY old and done in the period 1980-1985 in my early thirties and when I DID race and ran with a club. They're not on my race profile because I only put the "enjoyable ones" up there and there are too many to check back on. No point in comparing my own previous race times with mine today Fenland or I'd get really cheesed off! Glad that you felt ok after your malady and didn't overdo it. Great to reach the 1,000 pedro, still a couple of months to go for me.

Well done Pedro!!
I had a very enjoyable 7 mile commute that accidentally turned into an increasing pace mile on mile job. Helps that I started slow ;-).
Although I did wear a long sleeved shirt for the first time since Spring! :-(.
3 miles in I was getting warm, but pulled the sleeves back down in the last one when the sun went in and it got windy again. Autumn is coming?
