Deejay I really enjoyed that. I was surprised how muddy the path was under Esk Pike. I was impressed by those who jumped from halfway down North Shields Polytechnic AC, Northumberland Fell Runners 1:53:30 1:53:30 3:50:00 3:39:00 32.13
eL Bee! This'll be interesting :)Langdale Horseshoe Fell Race400 ish runners and a STUNNING Lakeland day. No - really - it was stunning. There was sun, but not too much; there was breeze, enough to keep you cool but not too much to impede progress; There was bog - which swallowed me three times; There were ascents and descents that worked me very hard, and I KNEW I'd run a Fell Race by the end. Consistently made up places as the race went on, and lost 4 places in the final descent where I was tiring noticeably. But for a first actual race, I'm quite pleased with how it went2:48 (Better than I thought I'd do)82/370 place (not bad for a novice!)Absolutely LOVED this - It was HARD - I hit all the navigation points I wanted to - my route choices made up LOADS of time over some of the other runners Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant!!!! I definitely worked hard. following the descent from Crinkle Crags (Bad Step..? Pah - chucked meself down it as I was at the front of the group of runners at that point) right quad felt like it was going to cramp, It didn't, it just needed to get used to climbing again up Pike o' Blisco!X-Talons were awesome - really comfortable - really grippy - only had one loss-of-traction fall and that was on the final descent where I was tiredAnd my Rab Extreme Down jacket got used in anger for the first time - and it was also FABULOUS.I have some soft tissue bruising on the outside of my right foot where I landed on a sharp stone. Oven Gloves My first outing on the fells for five months and, boy, did it show. I was knackered. I still enjoyed it though, and this is a great race. I'll be back next year for sure. Blyth RC 1:36:53 4:19:09 25.16
