Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Changing subject a bit, Bobs has just called me from Betty's at Harlow Carr. A box of 6 mince pies is now £18 !! Poor lass sounded quite faint.

We had a day out in Harrogate on Friday and went to Betty's. My wife commented that Harrogate was for posh old people. I pointed out that we probably qualified on both counts these days. Also made a last minute decision to go to the Glow thing at Harlow Carr - it was surprisingly good.

Also, per GlennR's blog, you can pay more than that in Suffolk.

Someone I know slightly has been running a mince pie tasting thing. He's had them from all the supermarkets and compiled a league table of the various brands, had about 25 different kinds, none of the expensive ones though. Perhaps not surprisingly, he has almost no remaining teeth.

Cooplands Brandy (1), Cooplands Classic (3) and Thomas the Baker (2) podium spots on his list.

I have a patient who works at bettys and she always brings goodies. Last week was mince pies. She said they won second prize for a mince pies contest.

18 quid for six mince pies makes 50 for afternoon sound good value
