Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thanks - will do bits of ear handling today (with treats) to see if we can get him used to it.

We did the puppy handling stuff and Ernie was OK. It did not prepare him for the vet squirting cold liquid in his ear and mooshing it about then using cotton wool to clean the ear though. Any activity around his ear is met with suspicion now.

We had to do the handling too in order to pass the 'inspection' requirement of the Good Citizen Test - eyes, ears, legs, paws, body, tail, bottom, tummy, neck teeth (although I suspect you see more of Albies teeth than you wish to anyway). We used to do it on getting back from a walk and I would say each part by name as I 'inspected' it. It helps them for vet visits and for giving treatment to an injury etc if done regularly. The examiner who tested us had expected us to smell inside the ears too but we hadn't been told to do that in training so he didn't fail us all - just advised it was something else worth getting the dog used to!

Lovely present!

How do people keep their puppies occupied? Especially in an evening.

Albie has been in the pen most of the day whilst I’ve been working. He was out with the dog walker this afternoon which was great and then slept for just over 2 hours. He’s now up but he goes for furniture chewing or chewing me and I can’t play with him all the time (too knackered if I’m honest). I’ve given him a Kong with frozen stuff in but it won’t last for too long. He has a yakers chew which he is demolishing and holds his attention for a bit. His toys are obviously not as interesting as chairs! (Just had to remove all the dining chairs from the room 🙄 - he pulls at the underside of the upholstery and rips it up).
