I tried the 'feet in box' thing yesterday evening after I'd finished packing. No box available so I can now report that it took less than one handful of treats for Jet to be sitting upright *on* the lid testing to see whether, if two feet on the lid is worth one treat then four feet...

I really struggle with the 'dog in a box' concept, but I can't articulate WHY. I just feel like there's something I'm not getting.
(I have the same problem trying to make my horse go sideways. I have a lot of circular conversations along the lines of 'I can't tell if he's doing it.' 'Well, is he moving sideways? If so then he's doing it.' 'Yes, but I can't tell if he's doing it RIGHT.' 'Well, is he moving sideways?'...etc.)

Maz there are so many parallels in dog and horse training.... I think its to do with the rider /handler!! Mind you it has taken me about 60 years to realise that.
Brilliant Jet, I had no doubt

I’m nearly at the end of my 1st week at Dogs Trust. I’ve not been bitten yet and I only once accidentally opened a kennel and let two dogs out.

Indeed, well done.
I was walking past a farm today when the resident dog came running at me, barking and doing it's best to appear menacing, but with body language that suggested nervousness rather than full-on aggression. Like any other thread-dog owner here I stood still and let the dog come to me and ask for it's throat to be tickled. The farmer was broad Cornish and he said the dog is nervous. I would agree, but it is a collie (mix?) and therefore already very 'watchful'. It's a fine line but I was glad I trusted my instincts, especially when it sniffed the 'treats' pocket.

How old is too old to expect a dog to pull me around parkrun and then up a (mini) fell? Ralph is nearly nine - and I don't remember him deciding it was bedtime quite so early and decisively before

Thought some here might like this picture of a dog finishing at Falkirk parkrun today. Not seen this one before, saw it at the briefing but it was too busy to say hello. When I looked though the whole set from today, there were eleven dogs featured.
