Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Dexter is a bully :( He immediately puts young dogs in their place. TBH he really doesn't like any dog that "gets in his face". He much prefers to greet bottoms first before making his way round to the face :-o

We are working on it in class and there are times when he tolerates face to face, but at the new class yesterday there was a ruckus with a Sharpei (although the Sharpei did start it :)). But still I don't like it and it's the one area that I don't feel confident about how to deal with it appropriately. Maybe Dexter is feeding off that?

Stella (my four-year old Labrador) still assumes that every dog is friendly, and will approach them regardless of their body language, growling or snapping!

Cleo (my Whippet) however was attacked by an American Bulldog when we she was much younger. She'll quite happily let small dogs approach her, but she'll snap furiously at the faces of any dogs who are bigger than her if they get too close. Thankfully she's got a really good recall whens she's off the lead, and is so light that I can very easily pull her out of the way when she's on the lead.

Wanda is always outraged (hopefully outraged will be in bold there!) if another dog puts its nose anywhere in the vicinity of her bottom. It's a cause for celebration in our household if we can come home from a walk and report that Wanda allowed a dog to do that :-)

Fireworks, I thought I'd cracked it.... have been playing firework CD religiously since he was 6 weeks old and he was happy to go in garden and listen and look at firework displays in the valley below and surrounding countryside...... until tonight when my new neighbour starting testing his remote equipment to light fireworks for a big party next week...... right next to my house.

Poor Indi.... it was so loud it made my ears ring and my body vibrate, goodness knows how Indi felt but he went straight under the table and wouldn't come out.

I'm so upset :(

That must have been hideously and unusually loud. Poor BOTH of you.

We've had a lot tonight and Jess is very subdued. She has got more sensitive to them rather than less ... but she's always alright once she's sure after they've stopped - i'm sure Indi will be too.

There's nothing you can do that you haven't already done, D.

Just give him and extra bit of love and reassurance I guess.
