Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hello my single beauties. I've been chatting on Tinder to a chap in Devon and will try to meet him for a coffee while visiting running friends. We've been trying to chat this week on the phone at lunchtime but my work's been too busy. That leads me on to ... I was hoping to find somewhere to live and then start looking for another job. I don't know if I can hold on. Work is really difficult and we're all hanging in there. I don't think I can for much longer. I know many people are in the same boat, but I'm crumbling. It's impacting on every area of my life. I've also been chatting on Tinder to an author whose work I love. 😀

That all sounds a bit rubbish RS. Hope it sorts itself out soon. And hope that you have friends around you to help and support you.

Sounds very stressful RS... And exactly the reasn why I decided to go the freelance route. There always seems to be something stressy when in employment. Money sucks, but stresslevels and therefore quality of life is high. I hope you get it all sorted xx

Thank you folks. Yes, I wish I was sorted with a home. I've got several small jobs I could do instead of one big horrible one and can be frugal to ensure mortgage gets paid. Hann, it would be good to hook up soon after the cancelled winter visit. Hope we can sort it out at some point.

I think work can get you like that RS. Is it workload issues, or possibility of losing your job?

I've been very busy over the last few months rolling out a project. Long hours, nights plus some weekends.
Can feel pretty relentless at times.
Now I find myself in a dull hotel on the outskirts of Northampton for a week of nights.
At least I can get out for a couple of runs, plus I've got my guitar for a bit of practice.

Life has a way of working out despite our plans RS. Why not look for jobs whilst looking for a house. Let fate decide which happens first.

On the subject of jobs, I have a conundrum.

Our head teacher is retiring. They could just replace her with someone in the same role. However, if they change the position, it will mean a transfer redundancy for me or the other teacher.

In light of this I applied for a new job before Easter.

I hadn’t heard anything so I assumed that I didn’t get an interview.

However, I got a letter on Thursday saying that I have got an interview. Well, to be accurate, I have an initial interview next Tuesday. If I get through that, there is another interview and presentation next Thursday.

This is only a class teaching job so the double interview is a bit of a surprise.

My problem is, I don’t want to move from here. However, can I risk staying and then being out of a job later?

Any thoughts?

HP. I wish I could but I imagine everyone on here knows how difficult it is to look for work when you've got a really busy job and sometimes work at weekends. I get home shattered and incapable of anything much.

I need to stay friendly with that author on Tinder. He has 4 books coming out this year! Maybe he needs a proof-reader ...

HF, go to the interview. You have nothing to lose. If you don’t get the job, decision made. If you get offered you might find you want to take it. Or you might be able to sound out the decision makers at your current school.
