Some of the best dates I've had have been 'free' dates - a bike ride or a walk, that sort of a thing. Maybe with a bit of pack-up and a thermos.

I had a lovely first date bike trip once. We stopped at a pub and met another couple who became friends.

My flat is on the market now. Trying to find somewhere to move to. Most places are just out of my reach financially in the wide area I'm looking in, even though a fair bit of it's run down.

Hey lovelies!

Some advice sought please.

My flat's on the market but I've had no offers. I had some decorating done as the flat was what would be described as 'tired' decor-wise. Feedback has been that people moving in would have to do quite a bit of decorating - lounge/diner and hallway haven't been done. I had kitchen lined and painted + a friend and I did the bedroom. I also had a v large cupboard painted inside and the hall ceiling. Bathroom is neutral and in good nick.

I'm now considering having the hallway painted - it's high in places and specialist equipment will be needed so I can't really do it. I'll also get the guy to gloss all the woodwork in the flat and the doors and replace the rubbish skirting in the bedroom which the previous laminators put in. Do you think that's reasonable and would that help? That would leave just the lounge to be done, although I could paint over the wallpaper maybe ...

The biggest cash outlay for a buyer would be installing central heating. It's a well-insulated flat and has electric heaters/one storage heater (old) but has good double-glazing.

I work full-time + evenings and weekends at the moment to get money to move, so I'm not being lazy re: decorating. I'll have to ask someone to do it because I can't stretch time.

I guess you need to take the advice of your estate agent. I assume it is properly priced? How long has it been on the market?

Keep any decorating simple and neutral. Maybe ask a friend to look round for other areas you could improve?

Not sure I can really help, as have never sold a place yet.

Though when I was looking at putting my place on the market a while ago, an estate agent said either update everything in my flat, or none of it. I was actually asking about my carpet which is a little tired, but he said don't worry.

Odd about the decorating feedback RS, as I would think that's what most people do anyway.
