Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

What were you shamefully old when you first realised . . .

(I think the fuel gauge thingy only changed across the car industry at a certain point 10 or 15 years ago, so for some of us of a certain age it wasn't a think to know when we were kids because it wasn't actually a thing)

Billericay is in Essex? I’d have assume wales.

I remember being really embarrassed when I realised that the written word awry was the word ah-rai and not aw-ry.

(Was there another similar thread recently or did I imagine it).

[My car is 14 years old and does not have the arrow. It'll do 700+ miles on a tank, though, so I keep having to check which side the cap is before going to fill it up]

If you've not got the arrow it's probably indicated by which side the nozzle is on the pump illustration.

Leeds Castle isn't in Leeds. I only realised a few years ago when I started working in Leeds and there was nothing like the castle I had seen on TV.

Just because we only ever holidayed on the South coast, didn’t mean all seaside resorts were there...
