Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Good pacers on the Bob Graham will getting you eating very soon after setting off. I’m a ‘lazy eater’ when running and have to be reminded to take fuel on board. The irony is I can eat pretty much anything

I need to stop grazing. Then I might be a bit nearer a proper racing weight :)

1. Don't think something will "just get better". Make a change. 2. (Not a contradiction! ), don't get down when things are going badly, they can get better (but see 1. !) :-) G

I think it was Nicky Spinks who said once you've thought about something 3 times (needing the toilet, something in the shoe etc) then it's time to do something about it.

I definitely deal with possible issues straight away after thinking I’ll sort it at the checkpoint last year resulting in the biggest blister in my life at 31m a offer 33 with said blister was very uncomfortable.

And I’m a grazer too

paulcook - yes, will be very interesting to see how you get on. As you've still done the mileage it will show whether you physically or mentally need the longer runs. Or both. In ultras, and in the latter stages of a marathon, I believe it's the mind that gets you through the final miles, rather than the legs.

Well, as an update to this, I don't think I can give a full answer!

Despite today's heat I PB'd on the course by just over 20 minutes. I attacked it this year and went out faster with the intensity of the training I had, but I think I paid for the harder pace later on, almost flipping between some of my (easily) fastest miles on the second half of the course, and some real dirge.

Think the reason for that was simply because the longer long runs just weren't in my legs.

paulcook - well done, great result. The heat must have made it tough too.
