A thread for any who wants to improve, develop or change. Significant change grows out of small good habits done consistently. Consistently doesn't mean 100% perfection but does require effort and repetition. It takes time, dedication, healthy decisions and maybe some sacrifice. Set a realistic outcome/goal/target/identity. What habits do you need to do consistently to enable you to reach that outcome? Start - focus on the right habits, make them your priority every day. Record each day you do your new habits. Make a chain and keep it growing. Missing one day won't slow pogress much, but missing 2 days will - consistency not perfection. You eventually become your new identity "Atomic Habits" by James Clear - jamesclear.com |

I have a number of goals for 2024 and they are entwined - - weight at a healthy BMI - run sub 60 10k (race booked 9th June) - Get a Bronze WAVA standard (1 mile, 5k and 10k) - Deadlift 69kg (current PB is 55kg) The habits I've identified to achieve these: - Daily calorie deficit - Daily 10k steps - 4 x resistance sessions at the gym or home each week (Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri) - Follow 10k training plan (TrainAsOne) |

I have been visualising a target, when I was too ill to move off the sofa, literally walking 50 metres a day, to get off the sofa, to eventually be able to walk to the top of Hatterall Ridge again. It worked! My next goal now is being fit and well enough to go walking in the Dolomites with my sister, May/June. My major goal this year is get on top of the cancer, for which I have a rather engaging regime of food, herbs, supplements, drinks, meditation, visualisation, yoga, PT sessions in the gym to build back muscle, I lost over 50%, walking, swimming and cycling. Plus Shiatsu and massage therapy. It is all really small right now, but with this method, it feels doable! Then there are my studies: in 2024 I will be studying full time, while also getting better from cancer. My 4th one is getting well enough to cycle to Santiago de Compostela. |

Yes GM but sensible head says it’s a long term project not something that will happen in 2024 So 2024 is all about building the foundations then hopefully 2025 I can run that GFA then run London in 2026 |

Absolutely, but the habits you incorporate now will lead you there. I've every confidence in you.
