Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

In my ‘just got up’-state, I saw the tracker pace at 5km and briefly thought ‘crikey, he’s gone off quick!’, before quickly realising it’s in km :) Good to see he’s made a good start to the event and that he’s off and running.

It’s on the bucket list & will hopefully get ticked off if the body holds out 🤔

I have Ian and club sec on the tracker both seem to be doing well.

Aborted run for me I have had a numb foot on some runs but eases off today very painful near my heel but outside edge and even walking was painful but eased off after 1.3 mile walk. I shall but pain relief on it and compression socks and try tomorrow.

Big G - ha, ha. I can't mentally convert km pace to mile pace so have downloaded a chart for future use.

SH UK - I hope you get the opportunity to run Comrades then.

WP - that's troublesome. Is it related to that pesky achilles, same foot?

WP - well at least it's not the other foot. Sounds painful.

Entirely my quads, @Shades. But I've got time to work on them. eL Bee! is already warning me that the section from Postbridge to the finish looks grim and will feel very long.

That can be the worst bit, Velo, in my opinion, as it’s quite exposed. Here’s one of me in the grime along there a few years ago. I was fine in a vest for most of the race but was beginning to get a bit cold along there.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon. Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
