Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well done Chester! I’d love to use Albie as a therapy dog but don’t think he’s well behaved enough yet 😆 He’d be good for those scared of dogs though as in general he’s calm with people (once he’s got over the initial excitement).

Very cute puppy Sigh!

(Though I can’t help remembering the sharpness of teeth and claws and being glad that stage is over now)
I too did not use puppy pads or newspaper and trained outside from the start. It was hard work but Albie picked it up fairly quickly and he is now well trained (unlike some family dogs who decided my rug was a good place 😬).

To be honest I've never paper trained my pups. Found it counter-productive with the family dog. Outside from the off. Harder work and getting up in the night but better results in my experience.
Surely it's worth the effort to give the Daily Fail and Torygraph the treatment they so richly deserve?

Belle hates being hosed or showered after muddy adventures. but she loves her robe for lounging afterwards. She's worn out today after some significant climbing on today's outing.

Love that coat - it's like a child's dressing gown from the 50s or 60s and looks very cosy :-)

I have the pair to Gobi's lovely WCS and the same coat, but he only wears it when we are on our way home for a run/walk in the unheated LandRover. :-)

Such a cute picture. Are there more bowls of food available than there are puppies or have two of them not quite worked out what to do yet? :-)

Does anyone have any tips on desensitising dogs towards children?

Arlo did meet children as a pup but in the summer he was a bit anxious around our niece and barked at her and gave a warning snap. (He is is 3 in may).

Since then we have been pretty paranoid and whenever there are children near, he is straight back on lead. If walking on lead and they are near, he now tends to go behind my legs and is clearly not happy but has let some stroke him but lets us know he has had enough fairly quickly. (He was fine sniffing around our nephew who was a baby and not yet crawling etc)

Or, as an additional question. If you had a dog that was anxious around children and then had your own, did they get used to it and become more accepting naturally as the baby has grown in front of them?

(We aren’t having children just yet but it’s in the plans).
