I agree. I found mine really easy to wear. I have a pair of zoomfly flyknit that I use for speed work and keep the vaporflys for racing. If they come down in price though I might get another pair.

What people are calling the 5% is the Next%. Not sure what they will call the one after that though, the NextNext% ??

They'll call it 5% if it achieves 5%. The NEXT% didn't achieve 5% so they couldn't name it that.

SPR - the product development manager on the podcast that Jovi mentioned discussed the naming. The 4% was baselined against an older race shoe ( think he said Nike Zoom Streak 6 , but might have that wrong ), and as it was initially developed solely for the Breaking2 guys it was relatively straightforward to measure their efficiency gains, which were indeed 4%. The Next% does measure over 5% against same baseline for some elites, but due to a) they feel the baseline is now such an old shoe it's no longer relevant to name a new shoe against that b) they are appealing to a much broader market of runners and not everyone will acheive that 5% then they went for a more generic name |

Baz - What do you wear for long runs and recovery sessions? I wear Ghosts, they are the shoes that do the majority of the training mileage and haven't let me down. I have a pair of t7 racers I used for 5 - 10k distances that are coming to the end of their life expectancy and I love those, but they were discontinued! Also have a pair of Launch for faster training sessions! Looking back at it all I've not really worn a fast shoe for longer distances as I was so obsessed with cushioning and protection! |

K5 - From this: runnersworld.com “Taking from (testing with) a handful of elite athletes and larger base of different types of runners, the range gets much broader,” Nike VP of Running Footwear Brett Holts told Runner’s World. “The majority tested over 4 percent (more efficient) and some over 5 percent, but some tested below that.” The new shoe is still faster, Holts said, but not enough to legally claim another integer. I'm pretty sure nobody thinks NEXT% is a better name than the original 4%, but 4.3% (for example) would be even worse when trying to sell it Vs the original. |

Baz - You mean Brooks Hyperion or Nuero 3? SPR - I guess that means if we buy the NEXT%, we have to find the other 0.7% through good old fashioned hard work! ![]() |
