Taper madness hitting the rest of our house too. Getting packed for an early evening flight tomorrow which would give the kids a chance to get out of school early (appoinments of course) and my son wants to stay to 3 as he has music and ok my daughter wants out early but wants to bring homework with her (hope she's not expecting me to be too long on Sunday)

That's hilarious BS - just tell them they can't go anymore and they'll be staying with a relative;)

My long sleep is disturbed by my boyfriend getting up at 6am for a run - so selfish!! I'm going to hide his vodka whilst he's out and he'll have to drink soft drinks on the train or pay for train vodka ;)

dan.
Is there a plan to meet up in the FGFA pen? I'd really like to meet you all before the start but I won't recognise any of you to just bump into

that would be good Dan; I'd tell you what I might be wearing but I don't know yet given the weather forecasts!

Hopefully some of the folks who have been in there before can suggest a time / place.

I'll be wearing a fetch vest with Idlewild on the back, so pretty easy to find :-)

And a transparent rain poncho probably :-(

in 2012 at about 6 miles I was caught by BR and I was chatting to him, just a few paces ahead I saw IW and FF; it's actually not that hard to find people in the crowds!

And after, for those who are going to the pub it's Chandos, right?

Just caught up on the thread, I see what people mean about activity. You link and then find 150+_ posts to catch up on.

Good luck to all the VLM'ers. I hope the weather is kind and doesn't put too many spectators off.

Very interesting read about the recovery between marathons. For the first time, I have 2 marathons within 8 weeks or so and I have been looking at the recovery, build up and then taper.

After a 3:12, 8 min pb at Brighton, I've had a rest week, currently on a build up week. Then I plan 3 hard weeks training and then a 8-10 day taper before the Kent Roadrunner on 30th May.

Last year, I did 3:20 at VLM with a 10 min pb and this was the start of a 10 week purple patch where i broke most of my pb's. I'm hoping that I can do the same this year and maybe if the weather is kind at the end of May, I might try for 3:10.

I got some much needed words of encouragement from BR last year before I went into full on meltdown :) my favourite marathon memory would be fetch sub 3.15 meeting before Abingdon 2011.

Currently sat in the Waverley station bar whilst Stoosh has a pint and a fry up. He has vodka in his lucozade sport bottle. I'm on a pint of high 5 zero and a black coffee.
