Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

What about horses? Must be worse than dogs. Completely pointless, and a waste of good grazing (like golf).

Dogs are quite good at reducing food waste and mine was good at reducing the local rabbit population. ;)

The meat thing doesn’t look so big as all the lobbyists would have it.
Stop wasting food, wash your clothes in cold water and don’t use the tumble dryer then you can still eat pature raised beef and sequester lots of carbon in the soil in the process.

The horse racing industry could certainly plant an awful lot more trees across each one of its tracks in the country. A waste of good land.

Not entirely pointless JD! I will replace my car with a horse when it has run out of usefulness in about 15 years time... I won't need to go anywhere by then I hope, so a horse and carriage will go a long way in transporting my ageing body to the shops occasionally...

Careful, there's a horse mafia too.... ;-)

Not sure, but horses don't eat meat, so that makes a big difference.

Re: golf courses. Reducing the number of them would help biodiversity. But....some have helped biodiversity by preventing development.

There simply is no right answer so everyone should do what they can. I certainly have... So have quite a few friends...

Dogs have a *huge* footprint!!

I haven't looked at the meat calculations yet. But those infographics *are* a little misleading

So yes. Eat less meat please. Especially red meat.

I have a neighbour who hauls trees out of inaccessible woodland with horses, so I know they have their uses.

I wonder also about "sport" road motorbikes, used solely for "fun" (on sunny weekends, on public roads).

Lots of dog food is what humans won't eat...

All the dog clothes are the big problem.

About This Thread

Hi
I've seen environment (whether emissions, power, climate change, access to countryside, whatever you think of as "environment") discussed in various threads: Politics (obviously), the Electric Car thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/electric-car-anyone-61481/ , run free's excellent "Competitive Running and Keeping The Environment Clean" fetcheveryone.com/forum/running-competitively-keeping-our-environment-clean-60907/ my own Greta Thunberg thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/greta-thunberg---jfk-for-the-climate-generation-61044/ etc. but I haven't seen a general one.

So here it is. For those interested in the science, the politics, the action for (and I'll state that for me, this is mostly pro-environment, anti-emissions, anti-pollution etc.) and the hope for the future of our planet.
