Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I dreamt last night that Boris said we had to have a 2 week half term, but that teachers had to teach remotely from home for the entire 2 weeks.

Indeed - and that is a worry!

The worth of teachers is negligible it seems... I noted that the Max Capacity for my classroom due to covid has been set at 16 - the size of my largest class, but not 'the largest class plus teacher!' Magically, all the classes are just big enough for the number of students in the biggest class!

Mrs TR is an HLTA, and covers teachers' PPA across the school (a 150 pupil village primary). She has 35 in one class, and over the week is in every class in the school - so much for bubbles.
I suppose we can be encouraged by the latest suggestion that primary school children are a significantly lower transmission risk, but we're desperately hoping no one in the school tests positive in the next week and a half: Here in Leics. half term is 19th-23rd and we've got a week booked in Yorkshire and don't want to find we have to self-isolate at home instead!

MrsB - we have classes of 30-32, no chance of social distancing :-)

I am, however feeling a bit calmer than I did a few weeks ago (despite our first case at the school last week),as I now have procedures in place to cover what we're doing. teachers desperate to do practical work, but it's still demo's only except for Yr 12/13 and, bizarrely year 7 STEAM lessons ??

We had small class sizes - but also smaller rooms so it is just as cramped. Still expected to do practical work - I just try to make sure I stand side to side not face on when working with the students.

What are other places doing about marking? Having just bought a set of yr7 and yr9 books home to mark (they were handed in today and are due back tomorrow) but I hear of other places that insist on 72 hrs quarantine.

72 hours quarantine each end for books. Kids put their work in a box, it's taken by the teacher three days later, marked, brought back in and left for three days before being handed out.

Most staff are making kids hand in work on paper for this.

Oh lordy! My organisational skills can't cope with that. I can just about remember which classes are in the same bubble for cleaning between lessons purposes.

I have been setting quite a bit of homework on Seneca (which has the advantage that it marks itself), may ask for proper guidance on book marking from SLT.

Online via VLE is very much the preferred option here if possible. We have to be conscious, though, that it isn't always accessible to all children.
