Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hope you have a good one Fergus.

I only really got my times down when I started to do high mileage Chris. My best results come off a few 100-120 mile weeks so 60 is low for me.

Weather was pants here yesterday too jda. Even if I run a GFA which I should be able to do comfortably even next week I'm not sure I've got the will to train through the winter.

I’ve been averaging 68 mpw all year so far. So it’s good mileage, not sure it’s enough yet, but in time it’ll do some good, it’s good consistency.

I’m now running 40+ mile weeks, but often shoehorned Wednesday-Sunday.

Long run is back to 18+ with quite a bit of mp, and even squeezed in a 5k race this week. 17:24, which is my fastest in a long time!

Guess I’m trying to focus on quality over quantity - miles off everyone else’s mileage as usual!

If that's what you can manage alongside life Miser you just have to make the most of it. I wouldn't worry quite so much about my mileage if I were able to include some quality.

:) BathMatt, i guess that works ok for me, but maybe not for everyone.
I think I would benefit from “blocking” up the training a bit more maybe, but this is easier for me to cope with.
And I mix it up a bit anyway depending on current energy for the week :)

thanks Chris, good to see you getting some good, fast miles in.

I’m starting to get a few miles in. In fact, I could get close to my highest annual mileage. Something’s just not there though. I’ll keep going through this campaign but after that I think a change in focus is in order. I’ve been reading a bit about how oldies might need a different stimulus and that probably applies to me now. I don’t think I’ll realistically be troubling the sub 3 scorers this time around or probably again tbh.

No doom or gloom though. Still enjoying being a fit older dude but it feels like it’s time to focus on the enjoyment as the grind isn’t getting to me where it did in the past.

I can empathise with that WW. What is your research suggesting?
