Thats the rest period over. Only ran twice this week very easy, ate too much rubbish and had a few drinks.
Back to training today with a Very easy long run. Our club now has 3 weeks of XC Relays to improve my speed work.
Looking ahead now to the spring and trying to pick the best marathon that will give me the best opportunity of cracking the holy grail. If I can't blag a London entry I'm looking at Rotterdam, Paris or Edinburgh.
Your views would be appreicated. If I've missed out on any other good choices feel free to throw them into the hat.

Rotterdam is a dull course, but fast and flat - similar to Berlin but less support. The best chance for a sub 3 I would have thought.

Twopies... oww!!! You should have seen my finish vid from last year... i didn't *quite* collapse, but I had my own personal escort of marshals and docs between the Brandenburg Gate and the finish...
I don't know if it helps at all but 3:00:04 for me @ FLM 07 became 2:56:34 that day. No need to go mad: recover well, and train consistency over the winter and it'll be yours for the taking!

Controversial - official pacer, or because that's your goal?
Either way, very useful!

Scot, official pacer (3rd year as such, did 10 min mile in 2007, 9 in 2008)

Good to see some activity on this thread again
I've had to miss out on an autumn marathon this year after injury blighted my whole summer training. Building up base miles now and starting a 24 week training plan in November for Lochaber next April. Hoping to put a hefty dent in my 2.59 PB.

twopies Utrecht in holland is a nice small event, plenty for the family to do as you run the race if you take them.

Controversial - shouldn't you be doing the 8 min mile pacing next year?! [10 min mile, then 9 min mile last year- surely there's a natural logic]
How did you get into the official pacer role?
