Ooh - I have an issue, Loggers-Sciers. Drives me nuts that I can’t easily put medians into a pivot table. Apart from that agree though.

Hahaha Glenn / Greg - you should be using Power Pivots. Greg you'd be able to do exactly what you've said

Logic - has does expansion of a cell in pivot table analysis drop columns?

Run free : it does if there are ‘too many’ columns in the original table that is the pivot source. Then when you try and transform a cell back into rows that created the measure columns are lost.
Is power pivots not the only way to put a median in?
‘Add to the data model’ was a revelation for me to achieve distinct counts.
Kinda agree with GlennR about coding. Learn to code faster than a few sweeps with the mouse is perhaps appropriate.

Logic - haven't had that issue yet so probably would need an example to see what's going on. Power Pivots is the way forward. And your measures should be developed as a measure and not simply another column. You'll have to come on a course with me
For the median you could use Cube Functions as well, but it is still referring to OLAP (analysis services / Power Pivot) to enable. Sounds like you've been using Power Pivot anyhoo .... i.e. "Add to the Data Model"

Logic - to create a measure you can use the Power Pivot tab or go into the Power Pivot interface. Dragging a column into the values section of a PivotTable ain’t the best way
