Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Interestingly Mosquito larvae have been found with micro-plastic in their bodies. Why is that a concern? Because it is in the food chain: independent.co.uk

I wonder how long before we find the first human with micro-plastic in their body?

Will that accelerate the changes?

If there's microplastic in fish and insect larvae, it would be surprising if it wasn't in humans.

Ah ok then.

Next question is, how many people know that we already have micro-plastics inside us? And how many care?

At this moment not enough care otherwise you'd hear much more campaigning and many more groups out cleaning the beaches and riversides + harsher penalties on litter.

Think this is because it is unknown about how it will affect humans and the research is still young. It is not an immediate affect on our health but guess it will play a subtle role in health disorders our generations will see or even now are seeing.

Also treating this as a binary “is it there or not” is surely over simplistic, complicating the matter. There’s a gazillion molecules in every human, there’s going to be a bit of everything.

So I guess we need to understand the health impact of various amounts and types AND how our methods of detection work with that.
