Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I think I am going to try the 4 ingredient sun screen. I am allergic to every sun screen I've ever tried. This seems better for skin and environment :)

I have very sensitive skin and have a form of rosacea, so need to use SPF50 for sensitive skin on my face all the time, every day*. I don't like the smell or the plastic packaging. Zinc oxide cream is rather too opaque and claggy for daily use :-O. I'm looking for a recipe where I can make my own sunscreen. If anyone finds one I'd be very glad to try it.

* Spending so much time out of doors this year means that I still have a suntan even though I wear a full-brimmed hat and sunscreen all the time.

I was googling recipes for sunscreen today...there seems to be a few out there.

In other news, I was at the supermarket yesterday. The amount of plastic in that place makes me feel a little ill. I was trying to avoid it where possible... and it's impossible. I really don't know what to do. I've sort of hit a plateau with my plastic consumption at the moment. It's frustrating.

How frustrating. I've been looking at the ingredients for home-made sunscreen and they all come in plastic packaging!

Helegant, I’m running into the same problems with things like home-made energy bars, granola etc. However, I’m going to check out a local bulk shop and see what they stock, when I have time. Shop’s not far away, but I need to have a nosey at nearby bike parking options. If I’m buying in kilos, I don’t want to walk home... must remember to google sunscreen recipes.

My veg box arrived today and it was almost plastic free. I deliberately went for things that wouldn't be in plastic, so avoided leafy things, although the cucumber was sheathed in the stuff. Oops: 9/10. Planning on acquainting myself with a couple of local farmshops as our nearest closed down, so hopefully that'll help get round some packaging issues. However, I've noticed we're getting low on toilet rolls - if I can't find any packaged in paper (didn't they all used to be??) then I'll get some that come in the plastic wrapping with the handle so at least it'll get some repeat usage (the bag, not the loo roll).
