We have to hope something else happens that means he forgets. Going back to jda's comment, it's not that the court decision was expected, it's that Trump following through/ holding the line on tariffs for so long was also unexpected. When the markets thought he was actually going to follow through, they reacted. Hopefully he doesn't decide he needs to show the markets who's boss by holding on longer next time. |

There's limits to this given as president, Trump can hurt Musk. Musk probably provides benefits that means he will need to go further to become an enemy. |

I'm not sure many business leaders, even idiotic ones like Musk, seriously think they can be hurt by a temporary office holder like Trump, providing they don't do something criminal. He's just a temporary blip that may cause them inconvenience for a short while, or may be an opportunity to be exploited.

You've not been doing your gossip here..... the elephant in the Musk/Trump room is Katie Miller (Stephen Miller's - deputy chief of staff's wife) and now potential new Mrs Musk.... some even wilder rumours than that to do with this triangle circulating.... Musk is just free to say what he always thought now. |

Looks to me like you haven't been paying attention. We have evidence that they think they can hurt given those that own media interfered with their independence to stop them making endorsements during the election. There's also government contracts that they have that they can lose. Or how about how Amazon reacted when plans to show the cost of tariffs on goods were leaked? They're rich enough that it shouldn't matter but that's not how they are behaving. |

But from what I'm reading, you could infer Miller had Musk sacked. He was certainly fired: Quote: "His departure was quick and unceremonious. He did not have a formal conversation with Trump before announcing his exit, according to a source with knowledge of the matter, who added that his departure was decided "at a senior staff level."" Source: reuters.com And for smutty gossip, this seems coincidental timing wise... "An aide to President Donald Trump is following Elon Musk out the White House door as she prepares to work for the tech billionaire in the private sector. Katie Miller - who is married to Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller - is leaving her current gig to work 'full time' for the Tesla CEO, unidentified sources told CNN. Come off it larkim, companies across the country have been paying massive ransoms after being threatened by Trump. If you aren’t aware of this you really haven’t been paying attention.

Short term reactions which stablise profits are one thing. Really hurting those leaders in the long term is something altogether different. Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg will suck up to anyone who can provide them with profit; harnessing those individuals so that they make decisions which line up with your policy direction is one thing, actively having power to harm them long term is something quite different.

"And the choice at the moment is between the choice of a Labour government that thinks stable finances are at the heart of building better lives for working people, or Nigel Farage and Reform" Has an election been called? If not, how else do I get to exercise my choice? |
