Well, given that their permission appears to have been conditional on the full release (otherwise they would have said yes for the 5th), then if we don’t get full release the permission would be revoked. I assume. Regardless of whether that’s logical or not.

Gateshead council just tweeted a statement from their public health directors covering Tyneside, Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, Northumberland and Sunderland saying that they were approving parkruns return. parkrun have yet to tweet which events this will cover, but would suggest that all remaining North East ones would now be good to go, unless there are any on private land. |

It's going down to the wire, this. Whatever happens there has been a lot of permissions in the 'problem' areas over this last week to get us over the line. I'm optimistic, though I wouldn't be surprised if it went the other way. |

I wonder what the situation is like in the winter when a lot of parkruns don't happen because they're waterlogged etc. I realise there will be fewer people wanting to go if the weather is rubbish, but it struck me that there must be days when there are around 80% of parkruns open. And yes there are parkrun die-hards like me who would have carried on going right through the pandemic except perhaps in January, but there will be lots of people who've fallen out of the habit and I wonder really whether the events will be overwhelmed. |

That's definitely one scenario, but I think a stormy, snowy winter Saturday morning is going to be generally pretty less appealing than a summers morning after 15 months without parkrun and a lot of media noise about the reopening. It could all be a huge damp squib; attendances could be at 50% at all events when they start. But equally they could be at 150% at all events even with as many as possible open. |

When junior parkrun restarted there was only one anywhere near that got permission. They usually get around 20 kids, all the others are closer to the 100 mark. The attendance was normal and they had hardly any tourists. I don't know how many 11-14 year olds there are at the events though who couldn't run who would normally. |

On one winter's day in 2018 there were around 80% of UK parkruns closed. Of the remaining 97 parkruns only two set new attendance records. And yes there are parkrun die-hards like me who that morning caught three trains and a tram across four counties to visit their nearest open parkrun. |

Another flurry of permissions coming in now covering most of the gaps in every region. Won't be quite a full set in London, but think it will be enough now for parkrun to say yes. Then it's down to who changes their mind on Tuesday.
