basically a lot of shouting "STAY IN POSITION TIL YOU GET YOUR TOKEN"
and in my parkrun, having the next batch of 50 tokens ready for the finish token person, so they don't grab the wrong set of numbers

and shouting "keep moving" as they go through the funnel
we also use the FM to keep checking that tokens and timers have same numbers as runners come through.

Clapping and congratulating (that's why it's called Funman ;-)), with occasional shouting. Sometimes you may have to wrestle a funnel-ducker to the ground and sit on them shouting "BAD! VERY BAD!" at them. That's why some events have two Funman's.
At my local event a tokens assistant gives the next tokens to the hander-outer.

a lot of people at Aberdeen seem to think it just means standing at the end of the funnel facing the incoming runners and pointing them into the funnel. I've often finished my run then managed the funnel while in it!

We typically have 110 to 150 runners so don't really have need of a funnel manager, as it's never really that busy - I was surprised a few pages back that someone said they had one at a parkrun with about 100 runners. The timekeepers and token giver-outer do the job between them.

Lots of parkrun roles are fluid. There's a Finish Token Support whose purpose in life is to give batches of tokens to Finish Tokens. There's a Number Checker who periodically checks that Timekeeper, Backup Timer and Finish Tokens are in sync. Many events will have these jobs done by the Funnel Manager, and some think the Number Checker is the person who writes down illegible barcodes, whereas most deploy it to one if the Barcode Scanners. Some don't differentiate and have two Timekeepers.

We have 2 funnel managers - one to do the shouting and one to keep shuttling between the token giver and the timekeepers to make sure they're in sync or to know where they go out of sync.

remember as Funnel manager that a lot of runners will be brain dead when they cross the line and won't be listening. You may have to be quite forceful ( but always polite) to get their attention. The ones who stop dead on the line are the worst. So you shout at them using something identifiable so they know you are talking to them eg "Red shirt move up the funnel please !". You may have to give them a gentle push, to ove them on or hold a runner back who has passed another after the finish line. Some funnels are very busy - Cramond at Edinburgh may have 20-30 people in the funnel at once, esp at busy times, others will only have 3 or 4

At Walsall the finish funnel is about 200 meters after the start line (so good for getting first finisher if you ignore the route map) one of the undocumented roles for the funnel manager on the first lap is catching coats.
