Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Ps @Sorequads

The weighted vest is to increase my leg strength & get me used to carrying a bit extra as BN has a few kit requirements. Only used it whilst walking so far but amazing how much harder carrying an extra 6kg makes it.

That’s rubbish @LBAC Si. Hope it doesn’t last long. Ditto @Forrest Jooligan. Weight certainly makes a difference!

Looks like the runs are coming back nicely, @stevieg. Session soon?

7M recovery yesterday morning. Bit of a struggle for the first two miles then eased into it. 8:30s average. strava still doing this weird thing where, u less I tag the activity as a race, it chops a bit off the opening mile. On the assumption I didn’t run a 5:54 out of the blocks.

Medium long this morning. 12.3M at 8m/m pace. All good and looking forward to the tailwind for the last couple of miles. Then caught by a road closure, although assumed I could sneak past. Mr Hart Hat said absolutely not, so had a bit of a miserable trudge through various overgrown fields and footpaths.

Fingers crossed @LBAC Si you get over it soon.

That race sounds tough as anything @Sorequads and then casually knocking out about 20 miles in the days after !

My half session this week was a lunchtime job of 20 mins at marathon effort. Around 6.40 min/mile pace into a lot of strong wind. It was made slightly anxious by running into my boss at work en route and it being entirely obvious I wouldn’t be back behind my desk by 2pm. Tomorrow’s complementary session will be threshold minutes at parkrun. I think I’m going to call this ‘parkrun effort’ from now on.

Session last night @Sorequads

3x3mins (90s), 3x90s(60s +5mins after last one) 10min tempo (5min) 4x45s bursts (60s)

Probably ideal tester session really, as it's the highest volume these sessions ever are, over 25mins, and included a dreaded 10mins tempo in the middle.
So should be ok to step into a 5k race soon now.

Formed a decent group of 5, which helped on the 10mins as we took a lap leading each, then i think i took lap 6 and another fella the 3/4m of lap 7.

Didn't try and match one fella a decade younger on the 45secs all ins :)

Not wise fresh, very not wise after 20+ mins of other stuff :)

Hope the cough disappears Simon - i still do a few coughs here and there. They do seem to take a while to go, but sometimes dry weather / pollen bits of other stuff add in on top.

Will check that blog out @Sorequads

Load of the Marlow lot were doing the Beat the Sunset 50k today, rebranded from Beat the Sun from previous years! I'd run it myself 2 years ago.

Went along and had a decent 3 hours with another club mate marshalling with others supporting, and seeing our lot in.

No real alarms, a couple went the wrong way, so I jogged them back on route, but a decent day doing something a little different from the usual.

About This Thread

Hi there - this thread started in 2010 over on RW and started as an improvement thread for myself under Moraghan's coaching, through to more of a general collaboration tool and place to share training and long winded race reports.

Thanks to the fetch community for allowing us to move over, and we'd welcome loads of new contributors adding to the thread, as we were definitely running on empty with a small bunch of posters near the end!
