Nice training @Foppotee Impressive 1k reps with fairly speedy recoveries. Bet the cool down was tough. |

Perhaps see you in Worcester @Muddyfunster. And the Wyre Forest race would be just my cup of tea! Agreed re the times, @LBAC Si. Just putting for reference in advance of further entries and relative to my form. Might still do it though! Great work @Curly45! Sounds a race with lots of variety and I love the bespoke prizes. Good Friday into Sunday combo, @stevieg. Impressive progression with the brick run, @Foppotee, especially as backed up with another run Sunday. Cotswold water park in a couple of weeks? Race for me: Worcester half. Blog here: fetcheveryone.com/blog-share.php?id=499757 |

Nice racing and report @Sorequads was it hilly that race? ![]() I will indeed be at the Cotswold Water Park in a couple of weeks. At least if that's hot, one can just dive back in the lake at the end! @Curly45 it's a good point on the cool down. When it's a longer one it helps you stay disciplined on the intervals, if you stray into lactic territory they can be miserable! This was ok though, although legs were a little tired, it's easier when the intervals go well. I did my intervals in the country park in the knowledge that the people walking aimlessly about and getting in the way would get me a little angry, which I find helps the pace! If there were ever any predators released into the wild these people would not last very long with their complete lack of awareness. 😊 |

Nice racing @Curly45 & @Sorequads Nothing much to report from me. After 4 decent parkruns post Newport the cold I picked up partying in Bristol on BH w/e has sent me backwards. 21:56 & 22:55 respectively though the latter involved a pit stop at halfway 😆 so probably similar to the previous week. Racing news: I’ve been accepted into the Ben Nevis Race for September: 15.4K & 4400’ so lots of hill training over the summer. Blaisdon - I’ve not sorted anything yet but probably 3rd week in July. |

Wow @Foppotee Suppose i'm not that well up on cycling, well impressed! Good report @Sorequads nicely paced as usual. Funny shower episode! Well run @Curly45 and like the 'medals' ![]() @Forrest Jooligan I should be walking up BN in August!! Saturday - Groundhog day, bus to Wrest Pk, decent session 6 x 1k off 80 - 3.23/3.13/3.09/3.10/3.09/3.02. Then to Bedford to watch Ollie do his first SAL, got a PB with a 10.05 for the 3000m. Sunday - First leg (9.3m) of the MK relay, horrible course, bit of canal, riverside walk tarmac thing, through the middle of a long hedge for 3/4 of a mile then the rest on pavements and the 2nd half mainly flat-up-flat-up etc.. 55.32, so 6.02miling. Not too displeased after training the day before. Just a long run tomorrow, then train to Manchester for the last Bmth game of the season. |

Looks hard @Forrest Jooligan. Blimey. Thats some climbing, but I'd be worried about the down. Quad busting. We don't have many AM races around here, which I can imagine is one of the big challenges with getting in. Wirksworth was AS, but I found Pommie harder as underfoot was much more technical. The categories are funny things, I'd like to see some recognition for variance of terrain as it would help massively in deciding on races. This looks fun as it has a sausage and beer/cider festival attached: fellrunner.org.uk I've yet to find a cider up that is decent mind. |

Haha I like that @Foppotee. Lost avoid busier paths for sessions, you embrace them 😊 Just a bit of climbing then, @Forrest Jooligan 😧. If you could avoid 25 July onward for Blaisdon it would tie in very nicely with my plans 😂. Can’t quite tell if you enjoyed the relay leg or not, @LBAC Si. Had a look at the link, @Curly45. Looks a good race. Sausage and beer has to be the best combo for a festival. Had a look at when I last did Sunday’s race. 2017. One place higher, 10s quicker. Funny how similar it was. 7 & 3M recoveries yesterday and a few weights. 5M early this morning. Paces surprisingly ok post race for this effort: 8:15 for the 7M and 8:30 this morn. |

Nervous about reading about @Sorequads's shower exploits. Good to see Reggie getting some decent training in. Murder Mile this year @Forrest Jooligan? They've moved it to the end of August now, so no double up with that Llanthony race. Which is probably a good thing. I'm still traumatised by those narrow lanes after ![]() As for me, fancied something tempoy. Went for a 4mile Moz MP, 2mins, 2miles quicker. First section averaged 6.15, then a 6.04/6.05 for the middle bit. Had a look back how this sesh had gone late last year, and was pleased to see a favourable comparison in early Dec I'd done a 6.21 first section and 2x6.05. That was in the lead up to a decent couple of Wycombe parkrun turnouts and then the absolutely top notch 5m /10k. So hopefully a good sign. Still working on assorted stretches/strengthening things but I think all slowly improving. Slightest dry tickly cough, but feels more a weather / dusty sort of thing rather than the proper coughing bug stuff from earlier this year and a couple of bad ones last year. |

Maybe @stevieg It’s 8 days before Ben Nevis so ideal prep 🤣 If I manage to get Blaisdon 10K sorted it’ll most likely be 15th of July @Sorequads Day off running yesterday but I got back in the gym for the first time in weeks: Hexbar Deadlifts 15 reps at 50, 60 & 70kg then repeated each weight descending from 70. I was benching between too. Cycled home then donned a 6kg weight vest before hiking 3K up May Hill & jog/hiking back down. 6K & 874’ in 63 minutes. Very sore today but managed a slow 4M with 6x100m Strides round the track at lunch. |

If I had a pound for every SG mention of 'Moz' and 'Murder mile' 😊. Sounds positive on the paces and niggles. My latest fad exercise is a reverse nordic curl. I've had a really tight left quad for a long time and this is a fun exercise to try and work on that and the patella tendon pain I have had on and off or years. Also using a gua sha quite a lot on the years of ankle sprain damage. Mental stuff from you Jools, when I read your little summaries and I swear I have a sort of Rocky IV training montage vibe in my head. More swift 1km reps SC. I had the club chaingang last night. Got halfway round and managed to drop the other two guys on the short hill and timetrialled to the finish solo. That was satisfying. Planned a 28 minute run after but felt a twinge high up in the hamstring so though better of it as I felt a bit dehydrated too which is a recipe for a torn muscle. Reading pool is currently having it's roof removed for the summer so had to go to the Bracknell club, there's quite a stark contrast in the members. Reading is on a business park of mostly softwarre companies so it's mainly men of working age and the Bracknell one is more of a raquet club place so lots of retired people and deperate housewives with fake boobies and trout pouts 😂. |
