Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Let's talk about inaugural parkruns after they've happened.

Now, you see, that would be welcomed! Volunteer tourists racking up inaugural events, because inaugural events could really use a mass of experienced volunteers.

Eastville and Thornbury were not short on volunteer experience thanks to the void that Little Stoke created.

I have reached the same conclusion as Brucester above. The closest I have come to doing an inaugural was event #6 or 7 at Westmill and found it still seemed pretty disorganised in terms of the route being different to that advertised on the parkrun website, pre-run briefing starting late and going on for ages etc. Sure it was just them bedding in and the event was still good (so this isn't a criticism of them really) but it does make me think that waiting a good couple of months for a new event to settle down is no bad thing (as well as being fairer on the event organisers)!

Maybe Lord Fetch could rename this thread to 'Future parkruns...'. :)

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
